The Association of Blind Persons in Kaduna state(ABPK) has called on the State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad el-rufai to fulfil his 2015 and 2019 campaign promises to them rather than arresting physically challenged persons in the state.
The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of ABPK Mallam Sadiku Ahmed made the appeal while addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Monday.
Ahmed said that some of the physically challenged persons have talents, lamenting that there are no jobs for them hence the reason they resort to begging as a means of survival, appealing that the government should help in providing them with employment or skills acquisition.
Ahmed appealed to Governor el-rufai to fulfil the promises he made to them during his 2015 and 2019 elections.
Ahmed recalled that Governor el-rufai administration promised to give scholarship to their children and to provide them with shelter, and now he is arresting them, he lamented.
He also disclosed that Governor el-rufai government has arrested over 114 blind people in the state.
Our members were not only maltreated, but also forced out of the house using security agents with guns, he lamented.
“We don’t have any other place to go and it is sad and also unfortunate for government to eject us from our house without giving us any other alternative”.
