The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has called for a collaboration with Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State council in disaster management.
The newly appointed Executive Secretary (ES) of SEMA, Abubakar Hassan made the call during a courtesy visit to NUJ as part of efforts to strengthen its relationship with Journalists.
“We are here because we want to strengthen the relationship between SEMA and NUJ, It is a call to NUJ to be part of disaster management”.
The ES further called on the Journalists to join hands together with SEMA to ensure that its activities and aims are achieved.
He reiterated that “SEMA is here to strengthen the existing collaboration so that we can do more for the people of Kaduna state”.
Hassan also called on the Journalists to help SEMA air its programs for this year’s harmattan season in other to ensure that lives and properties are safe in Kaduna state, he said.
Also speaking, the Director Kaduna state fire service Mr. Paul Fidelis Aboi appealed to Journalists to ensure that, the misconception about fire service will be taking away.
He lamented that people accused fire service of late coming, ” fire service have only 1 office in Tundun Wada Kaduna, it is impossible for us to meet up with international 5minutes response”.
Aboi also appealed to Journalists to always inform fire service anytime there is an outbreak, “information is key in executing our work, with you our work will be easier, he said.
He equally appealed to Kaduna state residents to always appreciate the efforts of the fire service.
Responding, the Chairman NUJ Kaduna State council, Comrade Adamu Yusuf urged the newly appointed ES to ensure that the existing gap between NUJ and SEMA is filled.
Yusuf also thanked SEMA for coming to NUJ and assured that NUJ will assist SEMA in disaster management.
